If you are a long time cat lover it will come as no surprise that your cat is "fury".  And even though you made this discovery ages ago, limiting cat hair may not be top of your agenda anyway.  For new cat owners however, cat hair can be a very anoying problem.  Not only that, but Puddy Tat may not feel like sharing the sofa either.  A very strong indicator that it is time to buy some cat tree furniture.

Which one to get

Do you go for the 6ft tower or a smaller cat tree?  This question can be easily answered if you call a one bedroom unit home.  But for many cat owners the more important question is rather "will my cat  like his new cat tree furniture".  Cats can be very fussy and a tree that doesn't suit the image will be rejected instantly. 

Some cat trees look very much like trees and others that may not look like trees have toys and scratch poles included.  It can be helpful to imagine yourself selecting a new car.  Do you want the powersteering and the airconditioning or is a great brand or fancy interior and shape all that matters to you. 

Your cat may be no different, he may prefer to go for the extras instead of a fancy brand or tree looking cat tree.  Besides, let's face it, there is no way you are going to convince your cat that the 6ft giant cat tree furniture you just forked half a week's wages out for is a real tree anyway.

Is Breed A Good Indicator

Some breeds are more active than others.  However even within the many breeds every cat has his own personality (felinality).  A cat owner will be better able to decide which cat tree furniture to buy if he not only consider his cat's breed, but also keep his cat's felinality in mind.  Michievous, playful, cuddly or do they just like to hang around, literally.  Some cats prefer to hang around their owners shoulders or other body parts and these types of cats will not easily succumb to cat tree furniture for they love the human touch.  A transition will take some coaxing.

If your cat does not take to the new cat tree furniture, you may have to pretend that you really bought it for yourself and make use of the scratch pole to demonstrate the usefulness of the new piece of furniture in the house.  In the long run natural curiosity will always be the winner and your cat is bound to get attached to his new cat tree furniture.
